When Should I Start on my Goals?

A young adult asked the question, "when should I start on my goals?" Like... yesterday!! We all get caught up in the right timing, or the right situation, but in all honesty, there is never going to be a perfect time and if you keep putting your goals off, there is reason to believe that you are just making excuses. So go ahead and get started on your goals today.

That seems simply enough, right? Well, I think the question posed above needs a little more elaboration. I think a better way to answer this question is “How do I get started with my goals?” So, how do you get started? Try this. Visualize yourself 10 years from now. What do you see? What have you accomplished? Who have you impacted? Likely where you see yourself in that visualization exercise is an indication of what you want to do or where you want to be in the future. Take note of what you visualized and start writing those goals. Do not minimize what it means to write your goals. Writing your goals offers clarity, accountability, and a document you can refer back to as you progress toward your goals. Did you visualize yourself as a teacher? a world changer? a lawyer? However you visualized yourself you now need to look at what it will take to get there.

Now ask yourself the question, "what will it take to get to these goals?" Reflect on this question for a while and record your answers. Before you know it, you have started on the path of reaching your goals.
